Still its extremely unlikely that this would work with a Hauppauge HD PVR. Some such NAS units allow for package installs from DVBLink for tuner installs and DVR like functionality.

If you're running Plex Media Server in Windows that is.įor a Linux based NAS running Plex Media Server it's likely to be even more difficult to get the host OS to see the Hauppauge HD PVR as a tuner. Plex DVR has a listing of supported tuners and its unlikely that any of these old software solutions would work in Plex but having Windows see the Hauppauge HD PVR as an actual tuner is a step in the right direction. The Hauppauge native solution made the Hauppauge HD PVR look like a CableCard tuner in Windows. DVBLink made the Hauppauge HD PVR look like a DVB-T tuner in Windows which Media Center supported. If I am not mistaken there were two basic approaches to getting the Hauppauge HD PVR to work in Media Center. Maybe its something that should be requested in the Plex forums to help raise consideration.

Hauppauge HD PVR support would be spectacular. I'd also like to see support for encrypted cablecard channels not unlike the work Silicondust is doing on their HDHomeRun DVR software. This would allow for analog HD recordings in 1080i / 720p / H.264 / AVCHD from any channel via the analog hole (in conjunction with a cable set top box). I would like to see either Plex, Hauppauge or a third-party (such as DVBLink) add support for the Hauppauge HD PVR and Colossus line of products. This goes a long way towards making Plex DVR a more viable solution for replacing Microsoft Media Center IMO. Olechowski also says that Plex Pass subscribers should be able to timeshift Live TV in "another month or so." By the end of June, Plex should be ready to support Live TV on Apple TV and Android mobile, according to Scott Olechowski, Chief Product Officer and Plex co-founder. Viewing Live TV is currently limited to Plex iOS devices, Android TV users, and the Nvidia Shield. Unfortunately, there's no timeshifting support yet but presumably this is a feature that will be added in another month or so: quote:
